In mid-May 2024, key statistical steel enterprises produced a total of 22.0922 million tons of crude steel, 19.7868 million tons of pig iron, and 21.2007 million tons of steel products. Among them, crude steel output was 2.2092 million tons per day, a month-on-month increase of 0.81%, a decrease of 1.61% over the same period last year, and a decrease of 3.91% over the same period last year; pig iron output was 1.9787 million tons per day, a month-on-month increase of 2.18%, a decrease of 0.83% over the same period last year, and a decrease of 2.57% over the same period last year; steel output was 2.1201 million tons per day, a month-on-month increase of 4.75% (due to the adjustment of production rhythm by some large enterprises according to market conditions and the adjustment of data of individual enterprises in the previous period, the output of steel products in this period increased significantly compared with the first half of the month), a decrease of 0.92% over the same period last year, and a decrease of 4.48% over the same period last year.
According to this estimate, the daily output of crude steel in the country this decade is 2.8999 million tons, a month-on-month increase of 0.59%, the daily output of iron is 2.4338 million tons, a month-on-month increase of 1.75%, and the daily output of steel products is 3.9627 million tons, a month-on-month increase of 2.04% (according to the data released by the National Bureau of Statistics in April, the national "previous period daily output" estimation level is adjusted accordingly).
At the end of mid-May 2024, the steel inventory of key steel enterprises was about 16.8264 million tons, an increase of 547,000 tons and 3.36% over the previous decade (i.e. early May); a decrease of 1.2897 million tons and 7.12% over the same decade of the previous month; an increase of 561,800 tons and 3.45% over the same decade of last year; a decrease of 3.1511 million tons and 15.77% over the same decade of the previous year.
