According to an official release from Pokrovsky GOK (PGOK), a major Ukrainian manganese ore producer, the company faces significant challenges in restarting operations due to ongoing power supply issues. The company, which has stopped manganese mining since November 2023, is still struggling with power shortages and soaring costs associated with industrial energy consumption, which have led to an indefinite shutdown of production. Pavel Litun, PGOK's chief power engineer, expressed pessimism about the prospects for resuming operations, citing the ongoing energy crisis plaguing the region.
